Stamp Act March (1765)
This act was used in England.
Everything you purchase must have a stamp on it to prove that you have paid.
There was tax on anything printed and without a stamp it will be seized and tried without jury.
people will even be jailed and fined.
The colonists reactions were different. Some thought it was reasonable and others were furious that they had to pay taxes on anything they bought.
It caused many problems for people and the goal was to preserve the empire.

Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773 the leader of the Boston Sons of Liberty Samuel Adams organized men to take action by dressing up as Mohawk Indians and boarding the Dartmouth. The men worked throughout the night with axes smashing open 342 crates of tea and dumped them into the Boston harbor. After the horrible event the sons of Liberty still wanted everyone to know who dumped the tea into the harbor. The British were so angry that all the tea ended up in the harbor they wanted Boston to pay for it right away for what they have done. In 1774 parliament passed the Coercive Acts to punish Boston. Colonists called these acts intolerable and called on all colonists to organize.(The Huntington library, Art Collections, and Botanical gardens Handout.) The Boston Tea party was a major event that started the beginning of the American Revolutionary War.
